John Bishop: Winging It

John Bishop’s “Winging It” tour has been called witty, warm, “full of life.” The two-hour performance brings Bishop back to the stage after three years. “Winging It” is Bishop’s fifth tour in the UK.

The tour will run from October through November, kicking off at the SSE Arena in Belfast on October 4. Bishop will close the tour in Manchester on December 14 at Dubai’s World Trade Center.

Bishop’s last tour, “Supersonic,” was seen by more than 500,000 people and received critical acclaim. His previous tours, “Elvis Has Left The Building” (2010), “Sunshine” (2011) and “Rollercoaster” (2012), were sell-outs and earned him an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination.

Known for his unique style, Bishop rose to fame virtually overnight, selling out arenas across the country just three years after his first-ever gig. He also released the fastest-selling stand-up DVD in history.

Fans know the comedian from his string of entertainment shows, including John Bishop’s Britain, John Bishop’s Australia, John Bishop’s Only Joking, The John Bishop Show, John Bishop’s Gorilla Adventure and The John Bishop Christmas Show.

Prior to his career in comedy, Bishop played for non-League football teams and was known for his aggressive style. He has also worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative.

His debut on The Panel helped launch his successful career.

In 2000, Bishop performed his first stand-up comedy show in Manchester. His performance was followed by a slew of award nominations, including BBC New Comedy Awards, The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards and The City Life North-West Comedian of the Year. He was also a finalist on the major competition show So You Think You’re Funny.

Bishop’s career soon took off, and he became a broadcaster for Radio City 96.7.

After his divorce, Bishop made the game-changing decision to quit his job to become a full-time touring comedian.

“Freefall,” his first Edinburgh Fringe tour, was met with mixed reviews. His 2010 tour, “Elvis Has Left the Building,” received an Edinburgh Comedy Awards nomination.

In 2013, the comedian hosted the Royal Variety Performance, with Charles, Prince of Wales and Camila, Duchess of Cornwall in attendance. That same year, he released his autobiography How Did All This Happen?

For the last year, Bishop has hosted John Bishop: In Conversation With… for the W channel. He was also confirmed to have a role in the Fearless, a drama series on ITV.

Several shows in Bishop’s tour are already sold out.
